چکیده

1. Introduction This work consisted of exploring the effect of water on both the distribution of the extra-framework cations and on their interactions with the framework in zeolite systems. From a practical point of view, this study was performed because water plays a key role in many applications involving adsorption and, more particularly, in ion-exchange which is carried out in aqueous solution. It is thus well known that water improves the efficiency of this process by coordinating the cations and hence increasing their mobility [1]. Dielectric Relaxation Spectroscopy (DRS) experiments performed on different types of aluminosilicate zeolites characterised by various Si/Al ratios, recently showed that the cations are progressively de-trapped from their initially occupied sites in the dehydrated state, as the number of water molecules per unit cell increases [2,3]. Furthermore, it was also pointed out a weakening of the interactions between the extra-framework cations and the zeolite framework with increasing water content.

Effects of Water Content on SO2/N2 Binary Adsorption Capacities of 13X and 5A Molecular Sieve, Experiment, Simulation, and Modeling

In this work, SO2 adsorption on 13X and 5A was explored at different concentrations, and the results were compared to molecular simulation and models. The adsorbent saturation tests were performed at four different concentrations of 250, 500, 750, and 1000 ppm, and it was observed that saturation would take more time for higher SO2 concentrations. Grand Canonical Monte Carlo method was used for...

Evaluating the Sintering Temperature Control Towards the Adsorptivity of Ammonia onto the Natural Zeolite Based Hollow Fibre Ceramic Membrane

The disproportionate quantity of ammonia presence in water has led to serious drinkable water scarcity worldwide. The abundant source of mineral and superior cations selectivity has made natural zeolite as a good adsorbent for the ammonia removal. This work aims to fabricate natural zeolite based hollow fibre ceramic membrane (HFCM) via extrusion based phase inversion and sintering techniques f...

رفتار گرمایی دو نمونه زئولیت طبیعی ایران

Thermal behaviour of zeolites is an important property regarding their application in different fields. This property mainly is related to the presence of water molecules in their crystalline structures. It is known that zeolites give up water molecules upon heat ing, a phenomena which affects remaining water molecules and other clements in the framework. This effect mainly depends on the...

Removal of copper (II) from aqueous solutions by sodium alginate/hydroxy apatite hydrogel modified by Zeolite

The study presented in this article investigated the removal of copper ions from aqueous solutions by a synthetic hydrogel-forming adsorbent polymer based on sodium alginate (SA) and hydroxy apatite (HA) nanoparticles. The effect of adding Zeolite on the adsorption performance of this hydrogel was also investigated, and the optimum amount of Zeolite was determined by changing its quantity. The ...
